Get Free Publicity: Tips From The Experts

Posted by admin on August 28th, 2008

How can you get your story picked up by the media? The best answers to that question come from the producers, editors and journalists who decide which stories get coverage. Here are some of the best tips I have gotten from these experts.

Be familiar with the show/publication. Your pitch should be about how your story will work for them. Don’t do a general pitch (”A story about dog training.”) but suggest the segment the story would be right for, or what makes it right for them.

Don’t take “no” personally. It may be that they have just done a similar story, or they can’t fit it in, or it just isn’t right for them. If you speak with someone, ask if they can suggest another show or publication where the story might work.

If at first you don’t succeed, pitch again. But wait at least a month or two, and come back with a different angle, not exactly the same idea that got turned down.

Many now prefer e-mail pitches to fax. It is fast to review, and can be easily forwarded to several others. Faxes often pile up unread, but e-mail gets read.

Keep your e-mail short and to the point. DO NOT send any attachments, as they will be deleted unopened (if they get through at all). You can include a link to your Web site or online media kit where more information is available.

When you e-mail, make your subject line enticing. Using “Hi!” or something else that looks like spam will get it deleted without being read. Start with QUERY: or PITCH: then give a short, punchy headline.

One national TV show producer said that you didn’t need to send video with your initial (mail) pitch, another said if you mailed a pitch with no video you wouldn’t be considered. In either case, you will need a video of other TV appearances before you get on a national show, so be on the safe side and send it.

Local media are always looking for local experts to interview on a variety of topics. Send them your bio and credentials and they will keep you on file for the next time they need an expert in your field.

Remember that the media do not exist to give you free publicity. They are there to inform, educate and entertain their readers, listeners and viewers. Help them do that, and you will have many publicity opportunities.

Dr. Moore was a former President of the Canadian Association of Anatomists, and of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists. He was honoured by the Canadian Association of Anatomists with the prestigious J.C.B. Grant Award and in 1994 he received the Honoured Member Award of the American Association of Clinical Anatomists “for outstanding contributions to the field of clinical anatomy.”

“For the past three years, I have worked with the Embryology Committee of King cAbdulazz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, helping them to interpret the many statements in the Qur’n and Sunnah referring to human reproduction and prenatal development. At first I was astonished by the accuracy of the statements that were recorded in the 7th century AD, before the science of embryology was established. Although I was aware of the glorious history of Muslim scientists in the 10th century AD, and some of their contributions to Medicine, I knew nothing about the religious facts and beliefs contained in the Qur’n and Sunnah.”[2]

At a conference in Cairo he presented a research paper and stated:

“It has been a great pleasure for me to help clarify statements in the Qur’n about human development. It is clear to me that these statements must have come to Muhammad from God, or Allah, because most of this knowledge was not discovered until many centuries later. This proves to me that Muhammad must have been a messenger of God, or Allah.” [1]

Professor Moore also stated that:

“…Because the staging of human embryos is complex, owing to the continuous process of change during development, it is proposed that a new system of classification could be developed using the terms mentioned in the Qur’n and Sunnah. The proposed system is simple, comprehensive, and conforms with present embryological knowledge.

“The intensive studies of the Qur’n and Hadth in the last four years have revealed a system of classifying human embryos that is amazing since it was recorded in the seventh century A.D… the descriptions in the Qur’n cannot be based on scientific knowledge in the seventh century…”

Is Viral Marketing a “Virus”?

Posted by admin on August 22nd, 2008

Have you heard the word “viral marketing”? It is not the typical virus that can damage systems or files. Though it seems like a virus that is spreading in the business world. Viral Marketing is making its name to almost every business organization present in one country. Viral Marketing is a great marketing trend that circulates by pushing different marketing messages to associates and business acquaintances. Through this way, the market exposure of a certain business will lead to growth outburst. This viral marketing strategy first succeeded in an internet web mail, the Hotmail. They put their websites URL in every outbound message sent. Through this, the users will be attracted to visit the site and eventually sign up for a free web mail. During the first year and a half of using viral marketing strategy, Hotmail gained 180,000 subscribers in just a week! Viral Marketing is also known as Marketing through word-of-mouth. This kind of advertising has a very influential way in building a business. With the use of the internet in viral marketing, it shows the results more quickly. There are many online business that are trying to form or look for economical ways in advertising their products and services, and they got the answer by using Viral Marketing.

What are the samples of Viral Marketing?

I’m sure all of us have received different emails that will ask you to forward it to 10 or 20
of your friends or to as many as you can. Most of us when we receive this kind of e-mail, we do forward it to our friends or to anyone connected to us. This is one form of Viral Marketing we are doing without even knowing.

How about the different commercials in the television or radio? Let’s say a soda commercial where a popular music personality is the model. Once a person has seen that commercial, he or she then tells it to her friend, and then his or her friend will tell it to another friend and so on until everybody is looking forward to see that commercial. This is Viral Marketing. By spreading the said advertising, their products and services will be known and soon, an explosion in the growth of their market hype is history.

Online retailers depend on the E-commerce world where the viral marketing strategy is mostly used. They have found the way to intensify their business growth through this viral approach. There are some websites that offers free voicemail and fax that uses Viral Marketing in order to recruit vast number of users.

Spending thousands or millions of money just to advertise your business products is not the only way or even the best way in launching your business. This Viral Marketing phenomenon is very cost-effective and the least expensive way of advertising. Aside from this, you can also create business along with long term customers, for viral marketing helps entrepreneurs especially those who are low on budget.

Viral Marketing is an easy and fast way to make your business grow without batting an eyelash!

Not only that, using this marketing strategy will make you save way down through your budget. But don’t just stop there. Viral Marketing may work to most of us but still not to everybody in the business world. Remember that not all businesses are the same. Think of other ways that will fit your business most. Otherwise, we can say that Viral Marketing is really a big hit, and of course an immense help in the business industry!

Terrorism Starts at the Breakfast Table

Posted by admin on August 18th, 2008

It has often been said that International Terrorism starts at home and at the breakfast table and it is really true. You see if the parents have hate, then they teach hate to their offspring and if they discuss this at the breakfast table, well there you have it. It is rather hard to educate children not to hate when the parents are teaching it.

If an entire community, country or religion is teaching hate then it should be no wonder so many young people attempt to join international terrorist groups. When International Terrorist Organizations pay families when their kids become suicide bombers you can see the problem and why it is so hard to stop.

Many academics have said we need to win the hearts and minds of the people, but that is truly a lost cause, because in the end one angry Cleric can re-warp the minds of the masses and undo years of hard work. For God’s sake when you have people in an outrage over a mere cartoon in a place over 4000 miles away you know that there is a real problem.

So, if Terrorism starts at the breakfast table, then lets start spiking the cereal boxes with positive world views and positive Western World stories and Middle Eastern people’s successes in areas of the Western World. A little cereal box philosophy for your Wheaties; consider this in 2006.

Arizona Real Estate - A Good Buying Opportunity?

Posted by admin on August 17th, 2008

If you’re looking to move to a new state, Arizona real estate is definitely worth a look. Following is a primer of the state and the FSBO Arizona real estate market.

Phoenix

Phoenix is by far the largest city in Arizona and it is growing fast. The sixth largest city in the United States, Phoenix is the official and economic capital of Arizona. The city is growing at such a high rate that it has engulfed the accompanying towns of Scottsdale and Tempe. Phoenix has a perpetual new feeling to it, which leads to criticisms that it has no inherent culture or roots.

If you want to attend sporting events, Phoenix has a nice selection. The city has professional baseball, basketball and football teams. Phoenix even has a professional ice hockey team, the Phoenix Coyotes. Only in America could a city in the middle of the desert have an NHL team!

If you’re looking for warm weather, Phoenix is the place. During the summer, average temperatures are usually above the 100 degree mark without much humidity to speak of. Evenings can get cool during the winter, but day time temperatures remain in the 70’s.

Flagstaff

Unlike Phoenix, Flagstaff is a town that reeks of the more historic Wild West. Sitting on the famous Route 66, Flagstaff is a college town because of Arizona State University. The University, better known as “ASU”, has over 30,000 students who more or less dominate Flagstaff. If you like the feel of a college town, skip Phoenix and consider Flagstaff for your real estate needs.

Arizona Real Estate

Arizona real estate is very reasonably priced compared to other states. The average home price in Phoenix is in the low $300,000s. Arizona has, however, become a hot real estate market with home values appreciating over 25% in the last 12 months.

Arizona is a take it or leave it state because of the heat index. If you prefer hot, sunny days, Arizona real estate may be a very good investment.

Play Black Jack For Fun - and For Money

Posted by admin on August 17th, 2008

Some people play black jack for fun, some for money and others for both. Whether you are familiar with blackjack or not, why not try to play a black jack online game on your computer from the comfort of your home?

Now, how can you win at blackjack? You have to gain the upper-hand but in order to do that you have to memorize the basic black jack strategy as well as the art of card counting plus, you have to use the information from card counting to make larger bets when the edge swings in your favour and smaller bets when the edge is in the dealer’s favour. Besides that, you should also be bankrolled enough to withstand the short-term fluctuations that almost always will occur no matter how good a blackjack player you are.

Last but not least you must know where to find the best games, disguise your counting skills, and be mentally prepared for some horrible short term losing sessions. It might seem like a dull and monotonous task and it is. With practice and persistence however, you can learn to gain the core knowledge in blackjack this way.

If you are a novice player and want to play black jack at a land-based casino, I recommend that you sit toward the third base side of the table which is the dealers right side. The reason for this is that it will give you a little extra time to decide how you should play your hand. Although this is a good place for starters, I wouldn’t recommend you to sit at the anchor spot which is the very last seat. At this place you - as an anchor player - will probably feel too much pressure to make the right play that will save the table as it sounds in the blackjack terminology.

Well, this was only a few tips. If you want more info about the blackjack game, do a search on the internet and you will get ample information to read.

How To Get Your Product Offered On Over 80,000 for FREE!

Posted by admin on August 10th, 2008

Any marketer knows that nothing beats word of mouth advertising. It is simply the most powerful and cost effective advertising ever known. Even before the days of the Internet. Word of mouth advertising got every business where it is today.

I know many entrepreneurs that never have and never will spend money on advertising. Their entire business comes from people telling other people about their product or service.

Could you imagine never spending money on advertising, but always having a steady stream of customers on your door step begging for your product or service.

There is one catch to running a business only on word of mouth advertising. You must be selling an outstanding product or service. If you sell crap, the only word of mouth advertising you’ll have is negative.

I’m sure you’ve heard the expression before. A satisfied customer will tell three people about your product or service, an unsatisfied customer will tell ten.

If your customers aren’t happy you’ll have to work ten times harder and spend more money on advertising to sell your product.

Positive word of mouth advertising is unbeatable for two main reasons.

1. It’s free advertising. This is self explanatory. The less you have to spend on advertising, the more money you can put in your pocket and back into your business.

2. People are endorsing your product or service. Having someone endorse your product puts you at a greater advantage. When someone tells their friend about the positive experience they’ve had with your product, there is instant trust. People trust their friends. If a friend says your product is it, they’ll instantly trust you. Trust is a huge barrier to break down when it come to selling anything, online or off.

To give you an idea of how powerful word of mouth advertising can be, take a look below. Your online business can grow exponentially without you ever even having to lift a finger.

Let’s say you start out with 10 satisfied customers you got with paid advertising.

If those ten people tell only 3 people each, you could get another 30 customers for free. But this is where it starts getting good because word of mouth advertising never stops once it gets going. If those 30 people tell 3 more people each you could have another 90 new customers for free!

90 X 3 = 270

270 X 3 = 810

810 X 3 = 2430

2430 X 3 = 7290

7290 X 3 = 21,870

21,870 X 3 = 65,610

65,610 X 3 = 196,830

etc…

You get the idea. More and more people just keep learning about your business all threw friends and associates. And it’s all free advertising!

If you think the above numbers are a bit of an overstatement think again. Go to Google.com right now and do a search on Autoresponder Magic. Autoresponder Magic is an eBook that was written by Yanki Siler several years ago. More than 80,000 web sites advertise his Ebook on their sites right now for FREE!

When Yanki started out several years ago he didn’t even know what an eBook was. Today he has more traffic coming to his site in a day then most web sites do in a life time.

Make no mistake, word of mouth advertising is the most powerful form of advertising ever known and handing out free Ebooks like Yanki are one way to take advantage of it.

The Top Six Factors that cause Bad Breath

Posted by admin on August 9th, 2008

Bad breath is something that most people suffer from at one time or another, the good news is there is usually a cure to get rid of this embarrassing problem. The key though is to find the cause and treat it accordingly.

The top six factors for causing bad breath are as follows.

: Bacteria build up on the tongue The major cause of bad breath is a build up of bacteria on the back of the tongue and on the under layers. This can be easily treated with a combination of tools such as oral tongue cleaners and good oral cleaning regime.

: Bad teeth Rotting teeth are an obvious cause of halitosis. If this is indeed the cause then swift dental treatment can erase bad breath overnight. Removing or treating a rotting tooth can cure the problem instantly as once the rotting part of the tooth has been identified the source of the problem will have been removed.

: Food Spicy food is a great culprit and many people are shocked because they think that bad breath caused by such food is limited to the day after consuming the foods in question. The fact is spicy food can cause bad breath for two to three days after a meal and this is why people think the cause lies elsewhere.

: Smoking This is an obvious cause of bad breath and there is not a breath treatment on the market that can combat this area of halitosis. Nicotine literally oozes from every part of your body, inside and out, so the smart way of combating this it to kick the habit.

: Tonsil stones Tonsils can hold a mass of bacteria and also tonsil stones, The combination of both is enough to set loose a mass of foul smelling odours that no amount of teeth or tongue cleaning can cure. The good news is these stones can easily be dissolved and the bacteria obliterated.

: illness It is very rare for an internal illness to cause bad breath but this is an area that should certainly be looked into. If all other methods of breath freshening have failed a doctor should obviously be consulted in order to find out the underlying cause.

The good news is that with good information then 99% of all bad breath cases can be cured. In order to find out the best form of treatment you need to obtain detailed information and find out what the cures are, Most cures can easily be obtained online and in complete confidence.

Fast Food : No Legal Recourse

Posted by admin on August 7th, 2008

Do you eat fast food? You must. According to the House of Representatives, the fast
food industry is a significant part of our national economy. It did not become that
way be having few customers. Many independent researches have found that fast
food is unhealthy and causes weight gain. This research suggests there is
something “faulty” with fast food. Our nation is becoming more obese by the day
and many obese people are attributing their weight gain to fast food consumption.

In the documentary Super Size Me, it was proved that eating fast food
promotes poor health and weight gaineven without over eating. In response to
this “faulty” product, some are turning to the legal system for justice. However, a
cleverly devised bill was created called the “Personal Responsibility in Food
Consumption Act of 2005.” This bill was sent to the house (H.R. 554) and on
October 21, 2005 is passed by a vote of 306 to 120. The bill is now in front of the
Senate, where it is expected to pass.

The House of Representatives, in this case, found the following:

1. The food and beverage industries are a significant part of our national economy.

2. The activities of the manufacturers and sellers of food and beverages
substantially affect interstate and foreign commerce.

3. A person’s weight gain, obesity or a health condition associated with a
person’s
weight gain or obesity is based on a multitude of factors, including genetic factors
and the lifestyle and physical fitness decisions.

4. Fostering a culture of acceptance of personal responsibility is one of the
most
important ways to promote a healthier society, lawsuits seeking to blame individual
food and beverage providers for a person’s weight gain, obesity or health condition
are legally frivolous and economically damaging.

5. The American food industry is the nation’s leading private sector employer.

If you notice in the above findings, the basis of this soon-to-be law is economically
motivated and not devised for the betterment of a healthier society. In their purpose
and summary statement, the House of Representatives basically said that fast food
establishments should not be held liable for the damage their products cause due to
“over-consumption.” What is interesting is that these fast food companies have
never, to my knowledge, defined what “proper-consumption” is. How can you have
over-consumption when you have not defined what proper-consumption is?

If a typical American simply eats his or her regular three meals a day at a food
establishment and his or her health deteriorates as a result, shouldn’t that establish
be held responsible for serving a “faulty” product? H.R. 554 is an attempt to remove
the liability of food providers and silence the legal resource by consumers. The next
time you walk into a fast food establishment, see if you can located the “proper-
consumption” documentation.

Microfiber Bedding - A New Favorite

Posted by admin on August 4th, 2008

Microfiber is used in so many ways that we hear the word often when speaking of bedding, apparel, fabrics and furniture.

Microfiber bedding is a newer fabric and is very, very popular these days- but have you every wondered what this microfiber truly is?

To the layman who doesn’t want a bunch of technical data, the fiber is microscopically thin..1/100th the diameter of a human hair.
Microfiber bedding, as a result is wonderfully soft to the touch.

Products made from microfibers like nylon and polyester are created with fibers that are also strong and extremely thin. These fibers are even thinner than the most luxurious than natural fibers, such as silk. And get this- microfiber can even be made to feel like suede, cotton or silk! How cool is that?

Fabric created from microfiber that is then used to create your bedding means that you will have products that are lighter, more comfortable, long lasting, breathable and even easier to clean. And it doesn’t come with a high pricetag either.

Products created from these fibers are also great for allergy sufferers.

Dust mites can live in such places as comforters, pillows and mattresses, microfiber can be woven into dense covers that do not allow the dust mites to escape and bother the allergy sufferer. Microfiber is an invention that has made a big difference in the lives of those with allergies. Zip on pillow covers, quality mattress pads, duvets to cover comforters and even comforters made with microfiber exteriors have reduced the problems for those allergic to dust mites significantly.

But these products are not just for those with allergies.

Let’s look at some of the great bedding you can find made from microfiber:

The Bolder Peak Comforter by Columbia is a great example of the use of microfiber to create practical bedding at low prices.

This reversible comforter has an exterior shell made of 250 thread count microfiber and 100% polyester filling. The comforter is labeled machine washable. Color combinations are navy/camel, black/blue and Berry/China Berry. Practical as bedding choices for dorm rooms, guest rooms, master bedrooms and every bedroom in your house, you’ll love the prices you’ll find on these microfiber comforters by Columbia.

Dockers doesn’t just make clothing anymore.

The famous Dockers label can now be found on bedding- including a reversible comforter set that comes with matching bed skirt and shams.

The microfiber polyester outer shell holds 100% polyester filling to create a lightweight but cozy comforter. Stain Defender technology means that spills and stains will be few and easy to remove because they will not bond with the fabric. Amethyst, black, navy and other colors are combined to provide lots of color choices in the reversible comforter. The pillow shams and bed skirt match one side of the comforter and coordinate with the other side. This microfiber choice is a great way to stretch your bedding dollar.

Microsuede and microfiber combine to create a great comforter from the J.C. Penny line of bedding.

One side of the reversible comforter is microfiber polyester, the other side is polyester microsuede, providing variation in textures. The hypoallergenic 100% polyester filling makes this machine washable comforter a great choice. Available with matching cotton/polyester blend pillow shams. Colors are black/tarragon, navy/wedgewood and thyme/tarragon.

If you want a comforter that feels like real down, you’ll want to know about Camden’s Reversible Down-Like Comforter. This bedding is filled with microgel, a down-like product that is allergy resistant and has that luxurious down feel. The outer shell is polyester microfiber and ten reversible color combinations are available. If you love down but don’t love the weight of down, you’ll love this down-like microgel filling inside the lightweight microfiber shell.

If you prefer blankets to comforters, Biederlack has created the Aurora Microfiber Bed Blanket that is light weight yet warm and cozy. The soft feel of the microfiber makes this bedding choice perfect in any and every one of the nine beautiful colors available. All common sizes are also available. You’ll want to add several to your bedding collection because they are reasonably priced yet high quality and fully machine washable.

Remember to read and follow the care labels on your bedding created from microfiber. Most microfiber should not be left in a hot dryer for prolonged periods of time. The material dries quickly because of the tiny fibers in the bedding.

Microfiber- A new favorite in the world of bedding.
